Hal Cheaney was born on February 26, 1944, in Bakersfield, California to Harold Price and Elizabeth (Cook) Cheaney Sr. Hal passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 77.
Hal married the love of his life, Shirley Kay Pittman on January 15, 1966, in Baird, Texas and they were blessed with two sons, Darren and Chad. They moved to Coleman from Arkansas in 2017. He was of the Baptist faith, and he enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and gardening. His true passion in life was being a cowboy and he loved rodeos, riding his cutting horse and riding bulls. He had a deep love for the Lord, and he deeply treasured his family.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents; stepbrother Bobby Cheaney and stepmother Maurice Holcomb.
Loved ones left behind to carry on his legacy are his loving and devoted wife of 55 years Shirley Cheaney of the home; treasured sons Darren Cheaney and wife Llorie of Muenster, TX and Chad Cheaney and wife Michelle of Gainesville, TX; adored grandchildren Llogan Cheaney Yosten and husband Josh, Trevor Cheaney, Carson Cheaney, Caylee Cheaney and Cutter Cheaney; beloved great granddaughter Llandyn; sister Vicki Martin and husband Mark; brothers Steve Cheaney and Terry Cook and numerous extended family and friends.
A celebration of Hal’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Pastor David Daniels will officiate. Music will be arranged by Lana Fox. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow in Bennington Cemetery with Trevor Cheaney, Carson Cheaney, Cutter Cheaney, Josh Yosten, Gary Stowe and Butch Fox.
