Betty Jene Chandler, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 91. Born on April 1, 1933, in Bennington, Oklahoma, Betty's life was a testament to the enduring power of care and devotion.
Betty's journey began as the cherished daughter of Albert J. and Sylvia Lavesta (Powell) Minyard. Her path in life was shared with her beloved husband, Lee Roy Chandler, until his passing after 58 years of marriage. Together, they built a family founded on warmth and generosity. Betty was the heart of her home, an excellent homemaker, who not only took care of her family with unwavering dedication but also extended her nurturing spirit to her mother in her later years.
Betty's hands were rarely still, as she found joy in crocheting, quilting, and sewing clothes for her family. Her cooking skills were legendary, especially her pear preserves. She was also known for her peacemaking nature. She was always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
Her legacy continues through her daughters, Teresa Hanson of Sherman, Texas, and Sherrill Chandler of Duncanville, Texas. Betty's joy was multiplied by her grandchildren, Noel Hanson and Kyle Chandler, and her great-grandchild, Barrett Chandler, who all brought immense happiness to her life.
Preceding her in death are her parents Albert and Sylvia Minyard, and her siblings, Thelma Buford, Charles Minyard, Mary Jo Akins, Cleo Minyard, and Zettie Ray Minyard.
Friends and family will gather from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
