Michael Wayne Steward a resident of Durant, Oklahoma left this eartly life to soon on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the age of 53 years. He was born in Ft. Worth, Texas to Jimmy and Gwen (Smith) Steward Stanford on Sunday, October 21, 1962.
Michael was the kind of person that loved to be outside hunting and fishing. He cherished all of his nieces and nephews and always looked forward to spending time with them.
Michael is survived by his parents, Gwen and Paul Stanford of Durant, Oklahoma; brothers, Rick Steward and wife JoAnn of Albany, Oklahoma and Bill Stanford and wife Angel of Durant, Oklahoma; sister, Brenda Erwin of Durant, Oklahoma; nieces, Brandi Gibby and husband Chad of Achille, Oklahoma, Jessica Steward of Durant, Oklahoma, Dusty Gammon and Herschel Hawkins of Caddo, Oklahoma, Kassy Gammon of Durant, Oklahoma, Shawna McCarter of Durant, Oklahoma and Micha Jackson and husband Nathan of Calera, Oklahoma; nephews, Michael Stanford and wife Natalie of Hendrix, Oklahoma, Donald Stanford and wife Kayla of Durant, Oklahoma and Joey Allen of Mead, Oklahoma; aunts and uncles, Janice and Bobby Putman of Lubbock, Texas, Dorothy Smith of Azel, Texas and Christine Winnett of Utica, Oklahoma; special friends, Amber Eldridge of Durant, Oklahoma and Ashley Johnson of Durant, Oklahoma; and numerous cousins and great-nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Jim Steward; grandparents, Raymond and Lillie Smith and Sudie May and Grover Cecil Steward; sister, Linda Jackson; and uncle, Ronnie Smith.
A gathering of friends and family will be from 6-7:00 PM Monday, November 9, 2015 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Chapel Service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel with Bro. Jackie Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Albany Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Castleberry, Red Castleberry, Doug Payne, Seth Fralic, Raymond Paddock, Kelly McDonald, Bill Stanford and Anthony Winnett. The Honorary Pallbearer is Eric Jenkins.
