Ted Louie Potts

Ted Louie Potts, 75, of Durant, passed away Sunday morning, March 29, 2009, at the hospital in Durant. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel. Bro. Kerry Groce will officiate.

Ted Louie Potts was born on July 29, 1933, to Theodore Roosevelt and Anna Juanita Dodson Potts in Albany.

He attended Albany High School.

In November of 1955 Ted was inducted into the United States Army, where he served until his honorable discharge in October 1961.

Ted married Betty Francis Heflin on January 22, 1960, in Durant.

Ted was a man of integrity who retired from the city of Dallas, where he worked as a supervisor for the Water Utilities Department for 30 years. He returned to Bryan County in 1996 to live out the remainder of his life.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and drinking coffee with his buddies at Wrights. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. We loved him yesterday ... we love him today ... and we will continue to love him with every tomorrow. Ted will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Frankie, Joe and Mickey "Jinky" Potts; and sisters ,Wilma Williams and Oleta Richardson.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Betty of the home; son Tim Potts of Garland, Texas; daughter Lisa King of Dodd City, Texas; and three grandsons, Nick King of Dallas, Texas, Sean King of Durant and Chase Potts of Garland, Texas; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Interment will be in the Albany Cemetery, Albany.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Dunagan, Willie Harris, David Potts and Danny Joe Potts.
