Maudie Antham Dunegan of Durant, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 92 years, 29 days. She was born Friday, October 24, 1919 in Kemp, Oklahoma to Jim and Willie (Brown) Powell. Mrs. Dunegan was a member of the Albany Baptist Church and worked as a nursery worker for several years.
Maudie enjoyed cooking and gardening. She married George H. "Buster" Dunegan on February 24, 1939 in Wade, Oklahoma and they enjoyed over 67 years together. The highlight of her life was her kids and grandkids. She was the ultimate caregiver and her home brought comfort to all that entered.
She is survived by son, James Dunegan and wife Sandy of Durant, Oklahoma; daughter, Winnie Fox and husband Butch of Caddo, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Mike Dunegan of Garland, Texas, Steve Dunegan and wife Pam of Mesquite, Texas, Lori Miller and husband Doug of Clio, Michigan, Tammy Dunegan of Sobol, Oklahoma, Karen John of Caddo, Oklahoma and Eric Minyard of Bennington, Oklahoma; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Lottie Long of Goldsboro, North Carolina and Juanita Powell of Durant, Oklahoma and numerous nieces and nephews.
Maudie was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Willie Powell; husband, Buster Dunegan; brothers Jap and Marion Powell; sisters, Martha Lauderdale, Velma Lair and Mamie Lothridge and son-in-law James Minyard.
Family Hour will be 6:00~7:00 P.M. Friday, November 25, 2011 at Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home. Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Albany Baptist Church with Bro. Anthony Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Albany Cemetery, Albany, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be great-grandsons Jacob Dunegan, Josh Bassinger, Chuck Choi, Westley Dunegan, Brett Robinson, Chay John, Ryan Minyard, Justin John, Lance Minyard and Dillon Miller. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wade/Albany Community Center, P.O Box 63, Albany, OK 74721 or the Albany Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 65, Albany, OK 74721.
