Kathleen Brooks Burgess Doyle was born on Thursday,January 5, 1933 in Albany, Oklahoma to Emert Leon and Lois Anne (Vandenburg) Brooks. She passed from this life on Sunday, April 4, 2010 in Durant, Oklahoma, at the age of 77 year, 2 month and 29 days. Kathleen was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and also she was a children's church leader and women's ministry.
She attended schools at Wade, Bray, Beames and Bokchito, Oklahoma. She finished 4 years of college at Southeastern State University, with a Bachelors degree in education. Kathleen worked at many different kinds of work, but the ones she enjoyed most were teaching school and being a correction officer at Oklahoma State Prison. Kathleen married Buford Burgess on October 12,1950, they had 6 children. Later in life she married James Doyle of Hartshorne. Both Mr. Burgess and Mr. Doyle preceded her in death. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, quilting, gardening and making fried pies. But most of all she enjoyed being a mother and grandmother and was a great one.
Survivors Include: Sons, Larry Wayne Burgess of Coleman,Oklahoma,Danny Lee Burgess and wife,Rhonda of Collinsville,Oklahoma and David Burgess and wife, Charlene of Cassville,Missouri.Daughters, Laquita Ann Fox of Durant,Oklahoma Penny Lynn Burgess of Durant, Oklahoma and Belinda Kay Burgess of Hurst,Texas.Sisters,Martha Dawson of Durant, Oklahoma. Gayleen Palmer of Ft. Worth, Texas Linda Cheek of Ft. Worth, Texas and Judy Starkus of Durant, Oklahoma. 13 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her Parents, 4 Brothers; 2 Sister Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Coffey~Murray Chapel in Durant, Oklahoma. Officiating the service will be Rev. Tim Cox. Internment will be at Albany Cemetery in ALbany, Oklahoma. Pallbearers for the service will be Jerry Burgess,Larry Keith Burgess,Jeremy Fox, Zach Franks, John David Burgess, Terry Burgess Honorary Pallbearers David Burgess, Ronnie Lowe,Bradley Brooks,Leroy Brooks, Gary Brooks.
