Marguerite (Koerner) Shirley was born Feb. 18, 1915, in Oklahoma City, OK to Robert G. and Edna Caroline (Moeller) Koerner. She passed away Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at Cimarron Nursing Center, Kingfisher, OK at the age of 93.

Marguerite graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City and attended Christian College in Columbia, MO. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in education where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.

Marguerite was united in marriage to Fred V. Shirley June 1, 1939, in Oklahoma City, OK. He preceded her in death April 4, 1990, in Watonga, OK.

She was a member of the Watonga P.E.O. chapter, past president of the Watonga American Legion Auxiliary, an educator, an avid bridge player, and a homemaker. Marguerite was a member of First United Methodist Church, Watonga, where she taught Sunday school for 21 years.

Mrs. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Robert G. and Edna C. Koerner; husband, Fred V. Shirley; one grandson, Jonathan Stockton; and one brother, Eldon R. Koerner.

She is survived by two children, Sharon Ann Stockton and her husband Jack of Oklahoma City, OK and Doug Shirley and his wife Stacy of Watonga, OK; five grandchildren, Doug Stockton and wife Jenny of Pueblo, CO, Ann Chapman and husband William of Coyle, OK, Stephanie Heefner and husband Tim of Norman, OK, Dr. Mark Shirley and wife Jami of Oklahoma City, OK, and Nicole Mills and husband Larry of Allen, TX; 11 great-grandchildren, Zach Shananaquet, Gretel Stockton, Caitlin, Christian, and Caroline Chapman, Abigail, Grace, and Benjamin Heefner, Carson and Claire Shirley, and Joseph Mills; one sister, Dorothea White and husband Dick of San Antonio, TX.

Viewing will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Turner Funeral Home in Geary, OK, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Watonga First United Methodist Church, and 10 a.m. to service time on Friday.

SERVICES: First United Methodist Church, Friday, 1:30 p.m., Sept. 5, 2008, Watonga, OK

OFFICIATING: Rev. Larry Masoner

BURIAL: Watonga I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Watonga, OK under the direction of the Turner Funeral Home, Geary, OK.
