Georgia Bernice (Haffner) Hinkle
February 14, 1926 ~ November 01, 2020

Georgia Bernice (Haffner) Hinkle was born February 14, 1926 on the family farm southeast of Hitchcock, OK to John G. and Beatrice A. (Spainhower) Haffner and passed away Sunday, November 1st, 2020 at the age of 94.

Georgia was a resident of the Hitchcock and Watonga area for all her life where she attended Liberty country school for 6 years then went to Hitchcock and graduated from HS in 1943. She attended SWOSU where she received her teaching certificate and then taught at Big 4, Centralia, and Cordell.

She was married on March 18, 1945 to Willis Hinkle at the Nazarene parsonage while Willis was home on leave from the Navy. After his discharge in 1946, they made their home in Watonga, working side by side on their dairy, farming, and ranching operation. She enjoyed gardening and baking pies. They both enjoyed traveling on bus trips. She and Willis were happily married for 51 years. Georgia was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Okeene, where she taught children’s Sabbath School. She was a member of the Watonga Hospital Axillary, served as a 4H leader and was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband; one brother, Wesley Haffner; one sister, Hulda Means; grandson, David May; Son-in-law, Michael May; Brother-in-laws Ira Hinkle and Everett Means; and sister-in-law, Betty Haffner.

She is survived by:

Two daughters; Mary B. May and Virginia Edsall and husband Butch, all of Watonga, Oklahoma.

Two sisters-in-law; Alice Hinkle and Phena Hinkle, both of Kingfisher, Oklahoma.

Grandchildren; Steven May and wife Susan, of Bentonville, Arkansas; Jandra Honeman and husband Kyle, of Mustang, OK; Michelle Adkins and husband Brent, of Luling, Louisiana; Kevin Edsall and wife Meagan, of Piedmont, OK.

Great-grandchildren; Marcus and Noah May; Madelyn and Ella Booth; Kyndal Honeman; Cole and Addison Adkins; and Hadley Edsall.

Funeral services for Georgia Bernice Hinkle will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Nazarene Church in Watonga, OK with Pastor Walter Martinez and Pastor David Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Watonga, OK with Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Social distancing will be practiced, and we ask that if you attend the service, you wear your mask.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy Hospital Watonga Axillary.
