The funeral for Glen Roy Fetters, 88, of Watonga, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at United Methodist Church, Watonga. The Rev. Larry Masoner will officiate. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Watonga. Arrangements are by Wilkinson Mortuary, Watonga.

He was born April 21, 1920, near Hitchcock to Earl and Hannah Haffner Fetters and died Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at Watonga Municipal Hospital.

He attended school at Con 6 in Dewey County. He moved to Omega and later to Greenfield where he graduated from high school. He enlisted in the Navy during World War II. He attended Purdue University in Lafayette, Ind., while in boot camp, where he was a member of a secret mission. He was sent to Solomon's Island, Md., and then Trinidad. Following an honorable discharge, he returned to Watonga where he worked for Safeway stores in Watonga, Cherokee and Enid.

He married Margret Rosenbaum Aug. 1, 1948. He transferred to Perry in October 1949, where he was store manager. In August 1952, he transferred back to Watonga as manager of Safeway. Following his retirement from Safeway he worked several years as a landman for several oil and gas lease companies. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Watonga, serving as chairman of the church board and a member of the board of trustees. He also served on Watonga City Council and was a member of American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, Margret; one son, Byron Fetters of Fremont, Calif.; one daughter, Jeannette Coble of Winfield, Kan.; one brother, Wayne Fetters of Covina, Calif.; and three grandsons.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church of Watonga or Watonga Municipal Hospital.
