Eddie Almaguer

May 29, 1962 ~ July 26, 2019

Eddie was born May 29, 1962 in Hollis, OK to Paul Sr. and Stella Rosa Almaguer and passed away July 26, 2019 at the age of 57.

Funeral services for Eddie Almaguer will be held Saturday August 3, 2019 at 10:00 A.M at the Nazarene Church in Watonga, OK with Pastors Kason Oakes and Dwight McGee officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

2 killed after pickup crashes into Canton Lake spillway

CANTON LAKE — Two men were killed Friday night in Blaine County when the pickup they were in went over a 70-foot emergency spillway at Canton Lake, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is reporting.

The crash occurred at 8:58 p.m. on Oklahoma 58A at County Road 648, 1.5 miles north of Canton, according to an OHP report.

Fred Adam Almaguer, 50, of Altus, and Eddie Almaguer, 50, of Watonga, both were pronounced dead at the scene and transported from there to the medical examiner’s office in Oklahoma City, according to the report.

Fred Almaguer was driving a 1999 Chevrolet pickup north on Oklahoma 58A when he failed to negotiate a curve, left the road to the right and struck a concrete drainage ditch,according to the report. The pickup continued off of the roadway, went over a 70-foot emergency spillwayfor the lake and overturned two and a half times. Fred Almaguer was ejected from the pickup 40 feet from the point of impact, and Eddie Almaguer was ejected 45 feet from the point of impact.

According to the report, the cause of the collision remains under investigation, as does Fred Almaguer’s condition at the time of the crash. Neither man was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
