OKEENE - Funeral for Loren Arthur Young, 87, of Okeene, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at First United Methodist Church in Okeene with Rev. Jan Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery , outside of Okeene, with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Okeene. Memories may be shared with the family at www.lanmanmemorials. com.
Loren was born Sept. 8, 1923, in Fairview to Elmer and Lucy Brown Young and died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Hospice of the Valley in Mesa, Ariz.
He grew up in Fairview and attended Fairview High School. Loren was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, serving in Europe. Living most of his life in Okeene, he retired as quality superintendent of United States Gypsum Co., Southard.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Okeene, and was a 32nd degree Mason. After retiring, he traveled extensively throughout the United States and spent winters in Arizona, spring and fall in Okeene and summers in North Carolina. He enjoyed golfing, playing the banjo and guitar, silversmithing and flying.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Okeene; two daughters, Paula Sproul and husband Wally of Isabella and Stephanie Brickman and husband Ronnie of McAllen, Texas; one brother, Elmer Young and wife Maxine of Enid; two sisters, Martha Baskerville of Edmond and Violet Marker of Kingman, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, James Young, and two sisters, Lois Young and Bonnie Heer.
Memorials may be given to United Methodist Women of Okeene through the funeral home.

Betty Mae Young went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2019. She was born March 24, 1928 in Southard, OK to Michael C. and Pauline Weideman Smith.
After graduating from Southard High School, she married Loren Young on July 6, 1946.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by two daughters; Paula Sproul and husband Wally of Isabella, OK and Stephanie Brickman and husband Ronald of Knoxville, TN; six grandchildren and eleven great-grand children.
