Dolores Marie Thurman Winter was born October 14, 1944 at Okeene, to Cyriaca and Alex Thurman, and passed away Monday October 29, 2018, at the age of 74.
She was a resident of the Homestead community for 47 years, where she was for the most part a homemaker. She had numerous part-time jobs for many Okeene businesses throughout her life. She worked for the Blaine County Election Board, along with Wilkinson Mortuary.
She attended Okeene High School and was a member of the Homestead Bible Church, Child Study Club, Red Hat Ladies, Senior Citizens, and Okeene Alumni Association. She was the treasurer of most of the organizations that she was involved with.
She was married to Larry Winter at Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church on October 15, 1962.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Richard Thurman, Larry Kubat and Bro. Charles Kubat; her sisters, Madeline Metz, Ilene Farhar and Ida "Pilo" Brown; and her daughter, Kim Brady.
Dolores was a servant for her community, always volunteering to help many in need. She loved her family and would do anything for them. She was always there to support her family, especially her grandkids. She was there, whether it was rain, snow, or shine; cheering on, for athletic events, showing pigs, speech competition, it didn't matter. She was there.
She is survived by her husband, Larry of the home, Homestead; son, Kevin and wife Jenny, Scott Brady and wife, Toni, all of Enid; two brothers, Marvin Thurman and wife Mary of Bartlesville; and Mike Thurman and wife Shirley of Rocklin, California.
Grandchildren, Macy Whiteaker and husband Joey; Karsten Brady and Alek Winter.
Funeral service for Dolores is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November, 3 2018, at the First United Methodist Church, Okeene, with Jeremy Parker officiating. Burial is in the Roselawn Cemetery at Okeene, with Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Homestead Bible Church.
