OKEENE - Funeral service for Roy M. Westfahl, 86, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Mennonite Brethren Church, Okeene, with Rev. Bennet Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Okeene. Viewing will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and before the service at the church. Memories may be shared with the family at www.lanmanmemorials.com.

Roy was born Dec. 18, 1923, in rural Okeene to Henry Westfahl and Judith Bierig Westfahl and passed from this life on Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at Okeene Hospital.

He graduated from Okeene High School in 1942.

Roy married Oteka Peters Oct. 24, 1944, and two sons, Ralph and Byron, were born. He lived in this area all of his life except when he was serving in the U.S. Navy as Seaman First Class.

Out of the Navy, Roy moved to back to Okeene to the home place where he farmed and ran a grade A dairy. Roy represented District Number 1 on Pioneer Telephone Cooperative Board of Trustees for 21 years and also served on the Isabella School Board. Roy was a big supporter of Okeene Schools, especially his children, and served as president of the Quarterback Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as hobbies. Roy was a member of Mennonite Brethren Church, Okeene.

Those preceding Roy in death include his wife, Oteka; one brother, Jerry; one sister, Verla Billings; and two infant siblings.

Survivors include his sons, Byron Westfahl and wife Michele of Mustang and Ralph Westfahl and wife Melinda of Ringwood; five grandsons, Chris Westfahl and wife Paulina, Shawn Westfahl, Erick Westfahl and wife Kasi, Chad Westfahl and Beau Westfahl; two great-grandchildren, Sabine and Collin Westfahl; one sister, Fay Ella Blom and husband Don; sister-in-law, Juanita Westfahl.

Memorials may be given to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) through the funeral home. (Submitted by family)
