Mary Helen Osmus, 95, passed away September 16, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in OKC, surrounded by family.
Mary was born in Oklahoma City on October 2, 1927, and was adopted as an infant by Dave and Lizzie Jantzen and raised on their farm near Okeene, Oklahoma.
She met the love of her life in high school and she and Vernon (Barney) Osmus were married on July 30, 1945. To this union were born 6 children: Larry, Bob, Kathy, Garry, Kay, and Rod.
In 1952, they purchased their farm near Hitchcock, Oklahoma, where Mary still resided.
Mary is survived by her children Bob and (Lori) Osmus, Kathy and (Mike) House of Watonga, Kay and (Robert) Haynes of Hitchcock and Rod of Okla. City. Also, grandchildren, Kristi and (JR) Hock, Staci and (Jay) Roach, Kyle and (Audrea) Johnson, Kari and (Chaze) Cox, Adam and (Katherine) Osmus, Brandon and (Jennifer) Johnson, Landon and (Amber) House, and Nick and (Amanda) House. Great-grandchildren Wyatt Johnson, Evan Bruner, Liza Bruner, Chelsey Baker, Trey and Riley Hock; Emery, Claire & Troy Johnson; Sammy & Chezlee Cox, Kate, Elizabeth, Gabriella and Annabella Osmus; Andrew, Ashton, Atlys and Avelyn House; Cooper, Maycee, Kade, Haisley and Declyn House, Sarah Haynes, Dave Foster, and Callie McIntosh as well as many special nephews, nieces and 2 very special sisters-in-law.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Barney, of 44 years and 2 children, Larry and Garry.
Viewing for Mary will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2023, from 11a.m. until 8 p.m. at Wilkinson Mortuary in Watonga.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Hitchcock Methodist Church with burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery, Okeene, Oklahoma, with Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of arrangements. Lunch will be served at her home on the farm following interment. The family invites everyone to come and please share their memories.
