OKEENE — Graveside service for Eddie Dale Metzler will be 10 a.m. today, Aug.
20, 2009, in Roselawn Cemetery, east and south of Okeene. Pastor Bennet Peters
will officiate. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. Memories may be
shared with the family at http://www.lanmanmemorials.com/. The casket will be
open 8-9 a.m. today at the funeral home. There will be no viewing at the
graveside service.
Eddie Dale Metzler was born Jan. 9, 1937, in Okeene, the son of Eddie and Elsie
Marie Bierig Metzler and departed this life Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at Mercy
Hospital in Oklahoma City.
He went to Deep Creek School for eight years then graduated from Okeene High
School in 1955. After he earned an associate degree in engineering at Oklahoma
A&M (OSU), he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Tinker Air Force
Base in Oklahoma City. After his tour of duty in the U.S. Air Force, he returned
to Okeene to farm with his dad.
Eddie Dale and Mary Ann Weigand were married in 1960 and to this union one
daughter, Melonee, was born. The farming operation included a dairy and Eddie
Dale was a welder known for his fabrications made of metal. He was also the
Vermeer Bailer Dealer for a number of years. He was very active in the American
Agriculture Movement and had taken a tractor to Washington, D.C., to take part
in the activities there.
Those who preceded him in death are his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Melonee Metzler, of Enid; a
dear friend, Faye Haffner; as well as other special people in his life.
Memorials may be made to Okeene FFA or Zion Baptist Church through the funeral
home.
