Deceased: Edmund "Ed" Walter Lamle
Date: August 12, 2008

The funeral for Edmund "Ed" Walter Lamle, 84, of Okeene, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at First Baptist Church, Okeene. The Rev. Brad Hawkins will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Okeene. Arrangements are by Wilkinson Mortuary, Okeene.
He was born Dec. 23, 1923, on the family homestead southeast of Okeene to Freida Anna Amelia Goehring and Fred Lamle Sr. and died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at the Veterans Center in Clinton.
His father immigrated from Germany in 1883 and homesteaded in the Cheyenne-Arapaho Run, followed by his mother in 1920. He was a first generation German-American and attended Okeene Schools, graduating in 1941. He attended A&M College where he was a lifetime Kappa Sigma Kii Fraternity member. He served as a Sergeant with the Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946. He received four decoration ribbons and one overseas bar.
He was a lifetime farmer in the Okeene and Aline-Cleo Springs areas. He made his home in Aline where his farming operation was based. He served as a 32nd Degree Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge, past president of the Okeene Jaycees, a member of First Christian Church, past president and inaugural member of the Oklahoma Flying Farmers. He filmed football games for the Okeene Whippets for many years.
Surviving are two brothers, Alvin Lamle and Frederic "Fritz" Lamle of Okeene, and one sister, Charlotte Bierig of Isabella.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
