Okeene – The funeral for Sara Heffel, 84, Mesa, Arizona, will be at 2 PM Wednesday in the Mennonite Brethren Church in Okeene with Pastors John Flaming and Bennet Peters officiating.
Mrs. Heffel will be buried in the Roselawn Cemetery, with arrangements under the direction of the Sisson Funeral Home of Okeene.
Mrs. Heffel died Saturday, October 30, 1982 in Mesa. She was born April 15, 1898, the daughter of George and Katrina Felker Karbs, and grew up at Okeene.
She was a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church at Okeene.
She and Carl Heffel were married May 21, 1916. They farmed in the Okeene area until retiring and moving to town in 1960. The Heffel's moved to Mesa in 1975 and celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary there May 22.
In addition to her husband Carl of the home, Mrs. Heffel is survived by five sons, Edward Heffel Fairview; Jonah Heffel and Clarence Heffel, Mesa; Harold Heffel, Marshall, Missouri; Cletice Heffel, Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Mrs. Dean (LaVonda) Maddox, Enid; Mrs. Al (Ruby) Carter, Waukomis; 18 grandchildren; 27 great – grandchildren and five great – great – grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Heffel, Okeene, and Martha Kiel, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.
Mrs. Heffel's family has suggested that those who wish make contributions in her memory to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Heart Fund.
