The funeral for Wesley Heffel, 83, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church. The Rev. Bennett Peters will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Okeene. Arrangements are by Wilkinson Funeral Home, Okeene.
He was born Jan. 12, 1926, near Okeene to David and Mary Karbs Heffel and died Friday, April 3, 2009, at Watonga Hospital. He attended Spring Valley grade school and graduated from Okeene High School.
He was a lifelong member of Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church. He was drafted into the Army at age 18, serving in the 40th Infantry Division in the Philippines during World War II from 1944 to 1946. He received the Bronze Star, among other medals. He also served in the Army Reserve following his discharge.
He married Clydene Peterson March 7, 1948, in Watonga. They farmed southwest of Okeene, later moving southeast of Hitchcock, where he farmed, was a carpenter and a rural mail carrier. He served as a member of Hitchcock School Board, was a member of Blaine County Cattlemen’s Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was inducted into Blaine County Agricultural Hall of Fame in 1996.
Surviving are his wife, Clydene; three daughters, Sandy Boeckman of Okeene, Sheri Nelson of Watonga and Shelly Booze of Oklahoma City; one brother, Otto of Okeene; four grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be made to Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church or Watonga Hospital.
Marilyn Clydene Heffel was born July 3, 1929, at Alva, Oklahoma to Clyde and Cecile Peterson, and passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022, at the age of 93.
She was a long-time resident of the Hitchcock community and recently moved to Watonga. she was retired as manager of Earnest Hoberecht Insurance where she worked for many years. Clydene attended and graduated from Watonga High School and was a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church of Okeene. She was married to Wesley Heffel on March 7, 1948.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Heffel, her parents Clyde and Cecile Peterson, and one sister, Margene Fry.
She is survived by three daughters; Sandy Boeckman and husband Robert of Okeene, Sheri Nelson and husband Tim of Watonga, and Shelly Booze of Oklahoma City. Four grandchildren; Brad Boeckman and wife Kim of Enid, Matt Boeckman and wife Maisha of Hitchcock, Dillon Nelson of Tulsa and Corbin Nelson of Tulsa. Three great grandchildren; Wes Boeckman of Enid, Nick Boeckman of Enid and Reed Boeckman of Hitchcock, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Clydene will be Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at the Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastor Bennet Peters officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery in Okeene with Wilkinson Mortuary of Okeene in charge of arrangements.

Wilkinson Mortuary in Okeene will be open from 1pm to 8pm for visitation. The family will receive friends and family for a visitation from 4pm to 6pm Tuesday evening at Wilkinson Mortuary in Okeene, OK.
