Rita Ann (Brown) Brownsworth
January 7, 1935 ~ February 14, 2019

Rita Ann Brownsworth was born January 7, 1935 to Clarence “Buck” Brown and Mary Harnett Brown on a farm west of Canton, Oklahoma. She went to heaven on February 14, 2019 surrounded by her husband and three children.

She attended Canton High School graduating in 1953. She continued her education at Enid Business College graduating in 1954.

She met the love of her life, Willard Brownsworth, in 1953 and joined together in holy matrimony on October 10, 1954 at the First United Methodist Church in Canton, OK. They made their home at 424 N. 6th Street in Okeene, where they lived their entire married life and raised three children. Rita was a housewife and devoted mother. Her focus was her family in her early years. She then focused her energy on others in her own way. The back patio was her favorite relaxing location, especially when Cardinals were seen and heard.

Rita was an active member of Zion Baptist Church, Okeene, and was on the Okeene library board.

Vacations were taken in the summer time. Colorado was the family favorite. Once Willard retired, Rita and Willard traveled to more places including the Northeast, Canada several times, and a most enjoyable cruise and overland trip to Alaska.

Survivors include her husband Willard of the home, Gregory and Leslie Brownsworth of Lawton, OK; Vicki Brownsworth of Edmond, OK; Gary and Kara Brownsworth of Hugo, OK; grandchildren Kylie Brownsworth, Aaron Brownsworth, Megan Gallagher, Mason Gallagher, and William Brownsworth. Other close family members are brother Talbert Brown, Johnsonville, TN; and sisters-in-law Sue Brownsworth, Iowa; Ann Wederstein, Newton, KS; Barbara Brownsworth, Clifton, TX; plus numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Okeene Library or the Okeene Municipal Hospital Foundation.
