Mrs. G. A. AVENARIUS
Mrs. AVENARIUS Passes Away
Mrs. G. A. AVENARIUS died at her home in the northwest part of Okeene, Friday, Oct. 18, 1907.
Mrs. AVENARIUS was known by most everyone in Okeene and vicinity and her sweet disposition and friendly manner made her innumerable friends, who remained steadfast during her illness and death, and everything that could be done to ease any pain or suffering was readily responded to by some of her loyal sympathizers, but to no avail, she passed to the great beyond quietly and peaceably to meet here just reward before the Supreme Ruler while her friends saw the end come sorrowfully and helplessly having done all in the power to prolong her life. With loved ones near hoping to see a faint recognition the end came.
Eva May LEMMON, was born Sept. 24 1878 at Walnut Grove, MO. and came to Oklahoma in 1900 moving to Okeene in 1901. She was married to Mr. G. A. Avenarius, Dec 21, 1902, where they have lived since, a peaceable and happy life. Mrs. AVENARIUS leaves a husband, four children, two sisters and a brother and her father to mourn her untimely loss.
The funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Sunday afternoon. The Church was appropriately arranged and the Ladies Aid Society placed several beautiful wreaths of flowers on the casket. Rev. HIRSHEY of Homestead, conducted the ceremonies, speaking the last farewell words, to a large audience of friends and relatives who had come to pay their last tribute to a loved one gone never to return.
The interment took place at the City Cemetery east of town. One of the largest processions ever before seen in Okeene escorted the remains to the cemetery.
[NOTE: Eva Mae (Lemmon) AVENARIUS is in an unknown, unmarked grave at the Roselawn, Okeene Cemetery. This is the City Cemetery which is one mile east and a half mile south of the City of Okeene. It is possible, but not known if she is in the lot with her mother and two other siblings. The stone for the LEMMON family has a place for the father, but it is unknown if he was buried with his family. Presently no obituary has been found for J. S. LEMMON.
