Mae Alexander, 70, died Saturday evening, September 12, 1981, in her home, Canton, of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services were Tuesday, September 15, in the First Christian Church, Canton, with Duane Cowan and David Derr officiating.

Burial was in the Roselawn Cemetery, Okeene, under the direction of Haigler Funeral Home of Canton.

Mrs. Alexander was born May 17, 1911, in Johnson County, Arkansas, and moved with her family to the Carleton community in 1931. She and James R. Alexander were married in 1940 at Watonga.

They lived southeast of Canton. Mrs. Alexander was affiliated with the Canton Christian church.

She is survived by four daughters, Lola Enlow of Watonga, Dorothy Caulk of Hennessey, Ellen Henley of Pond Creek and Elnora Gillum of Enid; three sons, James of Pawhuska and Ray Dean of Cowdry, Colorado, and Fred of Canton; four sisters, Emma Hughes and Stella Hughes, both of Geary, Clara Dixon of Watonga and Edna Klopfenstein of Oklahoma City; a brother, George Hughes, Elsobrante, California; 14 grandchildren and seven great – grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter and a sister.
