Kenneth Duane Paulsen was born on December 25, 1932, to Edward Theodore and Osa Anna Blankenship Paulsen, on their farm in Canton, OK. He went home to be with his Heavenly Father on December 6, 2018, just nineteen days short of his 86th birthday. He met the love of his life, June Avonne Duncan, at a Blaine County 4-H event. They were married in New York City on The Bride & Groom TV Show, on August 4, 1953, and enjoyed 65 years and 4 months of wedded bliss. To this union, they were blessed with three daughters, nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Kenneth graduated from Canton High School in 1951. He attended Oklahoma A&M until 1953, when he married. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, and was stationed in El Paso, TX. Once discharged, he went back to finish college and graduated in 1958. He was in the Army Reserves from 1956 to 1962. He owned and operated Ken’s Texaco and Paulsen Oil Company from 1958 to 1978. His greatest passion was being a farmer and rancher. Caring for his cattle was life blood to him. He continued his passion, with the help of his family and friends, until his death.
Kenneth was a kind and giving person, known for his constant smile. Many people referred to him as a pillar of the community. In his younger days, he spent snow and ice storms digging people out, providing shelter for out of town people who were stranded, and delivering groceries to those who could not get out. He planted crops and harvested fields for widows who had lost their husbands. His heart was made of gold. His love for his family was huge. They were his everything. Teaching his grandkids to drive and hunt was a priority for him. He was loved so much.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Osa Paulsen; his brother Ronald Eugene Paulsen; and son-in-law Don Doyel. He is survived by his wife June; his brother Edward Deward Paulsen and wife MaryAnn; daughters Brenda Doyel, Shelly Barton and her husband Kyle, Rhonda Lance and husband Chris; grandchildren Keith Parsons, Colby Doyel and wife Sandi, Lindsey Doyel and J.D. Edsall, Josh Doyel, Ciara Doyel and Willie Galindo, Tanner Barton and wife Felicia, Logan Barton, Garrett Lance and wife Chelsey, Taylor Ransom and husband Levi; great grandchildren Shane and Stanton Parsons, Zoie and Landin Doyel, Joey, Nicolas, Adrian, and Marisol Mata, Wyatt and Emmett Doyel, Maileigh Murphy, Laityn Doyel, Taighan Galindo, Rilynn and Ayden Kenneth Barton, Colt Ransom and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and close friends. Kenneth also considered the Sutton family as his own family as well, as do his descendants.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Canton Christian Church with Steve Driskill and Pastor Kraig Birchfield officiating.
