Our beloved husband and father Earl Duane Wymer, left us to join his loved ones on Tuesday, August 6, 2013. He passed away at his home. Duane was born to Earl and Grace Dowd Wymer. He was born November 28, 1929 on family farm north and east of Longdale.
Duane graduated from Longdale High School in 1945 and continue his education graduating from Oklahoma A&M a degree in Agriculiture Management. Duane pursue his degree working for Halverson food distribed in Fairview and then moved to California to manage and operate a food distribute, Laurel Foods. There he met and married his beloved wife Margarita Cruz. They made their home in the Canoga Park Area. He was blessed with two children Richard Wymer and Sandra Wymer Miller. Then in 1978 they made the decision to move back to Oklahoma where they made their home in the Longdale and Canton area. They purchased the business that is known as Wymer Service Station serving to the people and communities in the Canton and surrounding area. Also began his cattle business, Wymers Circle C Ranch during that time. Duane pride and joy was his family and their well being.
Duane was an active member of the Longdale School Gymnasim into a community center. Duane's true love was the game of sports. He loved sitting in his reclincer and watching t.v. His football, basketball, baseball, actually he loved it all. His true passion was the Friday lites of Canton Tiger Football. His enjoyment was to watch his grandsons Scott and Chad and the rest of the Canton Tigers play some ball. Then when the season of basketball rolled around he was listening to the echos of the basketball bouncing on the court. He was truly a Canton Tigers #1 Fan, his heart bleed orange and black. Duane also played basketball and baseball in high school. He played for a short time for A & M Aggies now known as the OSU Cowboys coached by Iba Gallager. In his later years he played for a rural baseball league, Longdale River Rats that traveled around the state. He batted against Sachel Paige, who was the 1st African American baseball pitcher.
Survived by his wife of 47 years Margarita daughter Sandy Miller and husband Rodney of Longdale. son Richard Wymer and Susan of Edmond. Four grandsons Scott and wife Amber Miller of Longdale and Chad Miller, of Longdale. Ryan Wymer and wife Melina Of Oklahoma City and Stephen Wymer of Oklahoma City. Two great granddaughters Kenley Rae and Denni Grace Miller, Longdale. Brothers Duane and Ester Wymer, of Fairview. Larry and Betty Wymer of Edmond and brother in law Keith Oakly of Longdale. Serveral neices and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Earlene Oakley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Longdale Gymnasium with Robbie Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery near Longdale, OK under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton. Memorials may be made to the Longdale Gym Association with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724.
