BURNET - Robert O. (Bob) Schnell, 77, died Saturday, June 29, 2002.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church of Burnet.
Burial will be in Lakeland Hills Memorial Park by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home.
Bob was born to A.L. and Elsie Schnell on Aug. 10, 1924, in Okeene, Okla. He graduated from high school in Spearman in 1943 and attended Southwestern Graduate School of Banking, Southern Methodist University.
He served in the Army Air Force in World War II. Bob retired as vice president of First National Bank of Borger. His hobbies included flying, golf, hunting and fishing.
Bob was raised in the Masonic Lodge October 25, 1948; he was a member of Hansford Lodge No. 1040, endowed member, Past Master, 1959-1960, dual member of the Adobe Walls Lodge No. 1355, endowed member; Past DDGM, 1975 and 1984; secretary of Panhandle Hilltop Association; Texas Lodge of Research; Borger Chapter No. 437, Past High Priest, Past DDGHP; The Order of High Priesthood; Borger Council No. 354, Past Thrice Illustrious Master, Past DDGM; Order of the Silver Trowel; West Texas York Rite College, No. 36; Knights of the York Cross of Honor, Priory No. 23; Borger Commandery No. 36; Past Commander, Merit Award and Grand Masters Club; Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests, Tabernacle No. XX, Past VEP; Red Cross of Constantine, Crusader Conclave, Past Puissant Sovereign; Scottish Rite, life member of Lubbock and El Paso, works 18th and 19th degrees; received the KCCH, October 1975, and Inspector General Honorary 33", Dec. 7, 1983; life member of the Royal Order of Scotland; member of Khiva Shrine Temple, served as OC, HP, AR, CR and Past Potentate, 1981; member of the Royal Order of Jesters; International Order of Cabiri; Past Worthy Patron Eastern Stars, Spearman, Texas; Order of DeMolay, Past Dad Advisor, received the Honorary Legion of Honor; served on the credentials Committee at Grand Lodge; served on the Grand Lodge Special Assignments; past Grand Master, 1993 Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas. Most recently on Board of Directors for Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Dallas and Board of Directors for Masonic Retirement Center, Dallas.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille; sons, Clay Schnell and wife,Pam, and Michael Schnell and wife, Patti, all of Spearman; stepsons, John Witt and wife, Susan, and Tom Witt, all of Grapevine, and Randy Witt of Hurst; stepdaughters, Cari Witt and Randy Witt, both of Hurst, and Lori Witt Tucker and husband, Tim, of Bryant, Ark.; grandson, Rob Schnell of Amarillo; grandchildren, Tyler and Ryan Schnell of Spearman, Paige and Pierce Tucker of Arkansas, Hannah, Holli and Devin Witt of Dallas; brother and wife, Louis and Barbara Schnell of Spearman; brother and wife, Aaron Lloyd and Danny Jean Schnell of Houston; sister and husband, Arlene and Burl of Perryton; sister and husband, Betty and Kenneth Parker of Perryton; and sister and husband, Kayleen and Howard Carter of Colorado Springs.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be to Texas Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Wellborn St., Dallas, TX 75219-5000.
