The funeral for Vernon Dupree Reames, 91, of Fairview, will be 2 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at First United Methodist Church, Fairview. The
Rev. Richert Redinger will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview
Cemetery, Fairview. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.,
Fairview. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, Dec. 11, 2008, at
the funeral home.
He was born Nov. 12, 1917, southwest of Homestead to Russell M. and
Estella M. Caldwell Reames and died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Fairview
Regional Medical Center, Fairview.
He graduated from Homestead High School, then attended Dallas School of
Business. He married Alice Juanita Brickman Aug. 16, 1939, in Fairview.
He owned and operated Reames Motor Co. from 1939 to 1981. He was also a
farmer. He was a member of Fairview Lions Club, serving as president
from 1962-1963, Lions Club Zone Chairman, 1968, Oklahoma Automobile
Dealers Assoc., president 1980, National Automobile Dealers Assoc.,
Okeene Roundup Club, Fairview Fire Department, Fairview Chamber of
Commerce, and served as a Homestead Boy Scout sponsor. He was a member
of First United Methodist Church, and Homestead and Okeene Methodist
Churches in earlier years.
Surviving are his wife, Alice of the home; one son, Ronald D. Reames of
Fairview; one daughter, Jean Paden of Fairview; and three grandchildren;
and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one great-granddaughter.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Fairview First United
Methodist Church or the Fairview Regional Medical Center.
