Hawley Bridges

Feb 5, 1929 - Feb 24, 2008

The funeral for Hawley Bridges, 79, of Oklahoma City, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church, Watonga. The Rev. Dwight McGee will officiate. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery. Arrangements are by Russworm Funeral Home, Watonga.

He was born Feb. 5, 1929, in Watonga to Sidney and Lovesta Bridges and died Feb. 24, 2008, in Oklahoma City. He grew up and attended school in Emanuel, and then attended Dunbar school in Watonga. He served in the Army during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge in 1953.

He married Rose Devereaux. He moved to California when he was about 17 and began working in construction until his retirement in 1987. He moved back to Watonga in 2000.

He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are one son, Charles, of Edmond; one daughter, Margie Devereaux of Temecula, Calif.; three sisters, Thelma Mewborn of Oklahoma City, Marylin Douglas of Watonga and JoAnn Douglas of Oklahoma City.; two brothers, Sidney of Santa Ana, Calif., and Clyde of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
