The funeral for Minnie Belle Pembrook, 86, of Fairview, will be 10 a.m. Friday,
Aug. 21, 2009, at Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene, Fairview. Burial will be
in Longdale Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc. Visitation
will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral
home.
She was born May 4, 1923, in Isabella to Charles Augustus and Eva Marie Coleman
Lyons and died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at Fairview Fellowship Home.
She attended school through the eighth grade and worked at the American Legion
School in Ponca City after school.
She married Walter George Pembrook April 1, 1941, in Fairview. They worked on a
farm until he joined the Navy during World War II. They moved to Houston and
later to San Diego. Following the war, they returned to Oklaholma, moving to
different places in and around Fairview. She worked as a waitress and cook in
most of the cafes in Fairview and Longdale and for a short time at Hallren's
Produce. She also worked 18 years at Fairview Hospital and Fairview Fellowship
Home as a nurse. She was a member of Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene and
Longdale Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Jimmie G. Pembrook of Ringwood and Jerry W. Pembrook
and Billy J. Pembrook, both of Longdale; three daughters, Marquetta "Kitty"
Pembrook of Enid, Veta M. Thomas of Longdale and Connie B. Hinchey of Anadarko;
18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, one son, one sister and one
brother.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Fairview Fellowship Home to
the General Store.
