The funeral for Erma Arlene McCaslin, 81, of Longdale, will be 11 a.m. Monday,
Dec. 21, 2009, at Longdale school gym. The Rev. Kurt Sutton will officiate.
Burial will be in Longdale Cemetery. Arrangements
are by Fairview Funeral Home. Viewing will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 1–6
p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 15, 1928, in Fairview to Edgar John Pharis and Ethel Verona
Page Pharis and died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at Fairview Fellowship Home in
Fairview.
She grew up in the Longdale area and graduated from Longdale High School in
1946. She married Charles McCaslin Dec. 21, 1945, and they moved to Kansas. They
also lived in Oklahoma and Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. After their children
graduated, they moved to Hobe Sound, Fla., and she started in the real estate
business. They lived in Florida for 10 years then moved west of Fairview
She was a founding member of the Longdale Gym Association and worked to raise
funds for the establishment of Page Park in Longdale.
Surviving are two sons, Charles M. McCaslin of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and Rickey
R. McCaslin of Bolivar, Mo.; one daughter, Patsy McCaslin of Longdale; two
sisters, Edith McConnell of Longdale and Joyce Couch of Haysville, Kan.; one
stepbrother, Wesley Pharis of Blackfoot, Idaho; seven grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, one sister and one brother.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Longdale Gym Association or
Page Park.
