Billy Joe Martin went to be with his Lord on December 12, 2021 at Fairview, Oklahoma. Billy was the second child of William “Bill” Franklin and Rhea Leona (Keith) Martin and was born on July 9, 1935 at their home between Longdale and Canton, Oklahoma in what is now the middle of Canton Lake. Billy lived in the Longdale and Canton area in his younger years and his education was at the Longdale School. He enjoyed playing sports, mainly baseball. In his adult life he lived in Oklahoma and Texas with most of it in the Enid and Longdale area. He worked in several places but spent 24 years at Vance Air Force Base in maintenance, retiring in 1994.

Billy Joe Martin and Barbara Ellen DeLisle were married on June 16, 1956 in Enid Oklahoma. To this union were born four children, Sheryl Lynn, born in Dumas Texas, Jo Ellen, Christopher “ Chris” Douglas, and LaDonna Ruth all born in Enid, Oklahoma.

Billy enjoyed gardening, working with the soil, fishing and square dancing. While living in Enid in 1975, he started farming on the land his father had left him near Longdale, Oklahoma. He continued farming while living in Enid, but in 1982 he moved to the farm and continued working in Enid.

Billy and Reeta Miller Wilson were married October 31, 1976 at Canton, Oklahoma. Billy was a member of the Canton Christian Church and loved to sing in the choir and loved to listen to his children sing, Chris, Sheryl and grandson Doug in their gospel trio.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William Franklin Martin and Rhea Leona Hasbrook and husband, Hewitt, his daughter Jo Ellen, a sister Loretta “Rita” Leona Simmons, a step great granddaughter Katlin Vodry and daughter-in-law Sharon Martin.

Family celebrating his life are his wife, Reeta of the home; his children, Sheryl Lynn Meier and husband Matt of Garber, Oklahoma, Christopher Douglas Martin of Hunter, Oklahoma, LaDonna Ruth Meier and husband Mark of Enid, Oklahoma; step children, Rick Wilson and wife Cindy of Goodwell, Oklahoma, Shelly Jo Wilson of Billings, Oklahoma; a sister, Donetta Kay Orwig and husband Gary; grandchildren, Brett Meier, Jeff Meier and wife Erin, Doug Meier and wife Kala, Christopher Douglas Martin II, Johnna Davidson, Kyle Meier, Andy Meier and wife Karsten, Branden Meier and Jared Meier; step grandchildren Steven Wilson and wife Tennelle, Brandy Vodry, Randy Wilson; 16 great grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the Canton Christian Church, Canton, Oklahoma with burial following in the Longdale Cemetery. Pierce Funeral Home at Canton will be handling the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canton Christian Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through the funeral home. Condolences may be made online at www.piercefuneralhomes.com.
