LaVera Jane Jones, 79, of Yukon, OK, departed for her heavenly home on December 22, 2018, surrounded by her loving family in Yukon, OK. LaVera was born on February 12, 1939 in Longdale, OK to Mary (Brandon) Richter and Elmer Richter. She was raised and attended school in Fairview, OK. She worked in Oklahoma City and lived with a dear aunt for a time before marrying and moving to Canton Island in the Phoenix Islands. She was evacuated to Honolulu, HI to give birth to her son. She lived in Guam in the Mariana Islands for a few years where she gave birth to her daughter. She then lived in the Hawaiian Islands for almost a decade before moving back to the mainland with her children.
She stayed with her beloved sister, Rosa Nickel and her family in Orienta, OK. Fairview then became her home again for several decades before moving to Yukon, OK to be nearer her daughter. LaVera met Christ while in her 30's and began a love story that lasted throughout her life. That love for Christ brought her comfort through several tribulations as well as a long illness. She taught her children to love Christ, work hard and modeled these values by both word and deed.
LaVera was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jerry Richter, Walter Richter, Thomas Fitzhugh and Shirley Richter; sisters Nina Profitt, Doreene Fox, Sheila Warner and Rosa Nickel.
Survivors include her daughter Pam (Kai) Carmack and husband John Carmack of Oklahoma City, OK; and son Bobby Kai and wife Lorna of San Antonio, TX. Her dog Lani. Granddaughters Lindsay Kai, Vanessa Necoechea, Danielle Guest and great grandchildren Amair Kai-Martin, Kalea Kai-Martin, Donovan Hargrove and Dei Hargrove; one sister Marilyn Richter of Enid, OK.
Family visitation will be at Pierce Funeral Home in Fairview, OK on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 from 6-8 p.m..
Graveside services will be at Longdale Cemetery outside of Longdale, OK on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain Cord Fowler officiating.
