Later, Willie began working in the automobile industry, living in several different states. This career would continue for the next thirty years. In 1977, Willie and his family settled in Fairview, Oklahoma. While in Fairview, Willie was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease. Due to declining health he was forced to retire in 1988. During his retirement Willie worked briefly for the Enid News and Eagle as a District Manager. In July of 2014 the progression of his disease forced Willie to enter the Shattuck Nursing Home.
