Graveside services for Leroy Nickel, 77, of Fairview, OK will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Homestead Cemetery with Pastor Ron Kirk officiating. Services are under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Fairview. Visitation with the family present will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 17 at the funeral home.

Leroy Dean Nickel was born April 21, 1939 in Major County, Oklahoma north of Fairview to Abraham and Opal (Means) Nickel. He departed this life on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma surrounded by his family. Leroy attended and graduated from Fairview High School. Leroy married Twilla Marie Snow on May 20, 1961 at the Canton Christian Church. He worked for Alvin Ratzlaff, Cornelsen Chevrolet and Howard Way Chevrolet before owning and operating Nickel Body Shop in Fairview. Leroy enjoyed sports, and spent many years officiating sports events across Oklahoma. He officiated football for 37 years, basketball for 35 years, softball for 26 years and baseball for 17 years.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ray Lee Nickel; and one sister-in-law, Ann Nickel; Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Twilla of the home in Fairview; daughter Deborah Williams and husband Austin of Wichita, KS, son Kevin Nickel of Fairview, OK and daughter Stacey Walters and husband Scott of Watonga, OK; one brother, Jerry Nickel and wife Nina of Arnett, OK; grandchildren Joshua Fettke and Kendahl of Norman, OK, Jessica Fettke and Jessica Jantzen of Pawhuska, OK, Jeremiah Fettke and Kyli Wilken of Wichita, KS and Clint Walters and Cy Walters, both of Watonga, OK; great-granddaughter Anastasia; Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairview Fire Department with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 15, Fairview, OK 73737.
