Elizabeth Dean (Peter) Lee

Elizabeth Dean (Peter) Lee
October 09, 1924 ~ November 12, 2018

On Monday, November 12, 2018, the Lord put Elizabeth Dean Lee at peace to await her heavenly home.

She was born to George and Myrtle Jackson Peter October 9, 1924, in Enid, Oklahoma. She resided there until her marriage to Smithy L. Lee on October 11, 1940, in Medford, Oklahoma.

They moved to the Kansas City, Missouri, area where their four children were born, Jack, Gerry, Tanya and Mary.

Smithy served in the U.S. Navy during the war, but in later years they moved back to Enid and eventually to Homestead, near their church. Elizabeth was baptized into the General Assembly and the Church of the Firstborn.

After Smithy passed, she moved in to Okeene to live in what she referred to as her "Dollhouse" for a few years, before living her last years with her daughter, Mary.

She was proud of her family, often referring to them as her "Goodies." She dedicated her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister in the faith.

She and Smithy ran a country grocery store for many years next to their home in Homestead. She sold Tupperware for a time and served as cook for both the Homestead School and Kiwanis.

She enjoyed gardening, working puzzles, playing cards, traveling in their camper, metal detecting and watching the grandchildren play. She often referred to herself as "ornery" or "a mess," and we all smiled and agreed.

She is survived by one sister, Mary Ellis and husband, William of California; daughter-in-law, Norma Lee of McAlester; son, Gerry Lee and wife, Louise of Enid; daughter, Tanya Rowe of Enid; daughter, Mary Dungan of Okeene; 13 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Smithy Lee; son, Jack Lee; brother, George Peter, Jr. and a great-granddaughter, Tara Osmus.

Funeral service was 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2018, at the Church of the Firstborn in Homestead, with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc. of Okeene.
