ENID — The funeral service for Charles "Jeff" Gorton, 52, will be held today,
October 11, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Garry
Vincent will officiate. Burial will be in the Homestead Cemetery, Homestead, OK.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Jeff was born February 12, 1959, in Enid, OK, to J.C. and Myrtle Mae Scott
Gorton and died at his home October 8, 2011. He graduated from Drummond High
School in 1977.
On May 27, 1978, he married Teresa Ann Carter in Drummond, OK.
He farmed in the Drummond-Ames area for many years. He worked in the oil field
for 34 years, starting with Harper Oil, Crawley Petroleum, ONEOK and Chesapeake
Energy.
He loved hunting, fishing with family in Arkansas, OU football games, staying at
the lake and cooking for the family. He coached Little League Baseball at the
YMCA. He was a member of the Enid Lodge 80, 32 Degree Mason, Akdia Shriner and
an honorary member of FFA.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa of the home; sons, Scot Gorton and Kim of
Enid, OK, Colby Gorton, daughter, Megan Gorton, both of Enid, OK; two
grandchildren, Addison and Emma; his mother, Myrtle Mae Atkinson of Enid;
sister, Jana Grantz of Colorado; brother, Jay Gorton and wife Lisa K. of
Wichita, KS, and sister, Lisa Atkinson of Oklahoma City, OK; stepsisters, Wendy
Savage of Tulsa, OK, Carolyn McDonald and Toni Parsons both of Enid, OK;
stepbrother, Bill Atkinson of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, J.C., and grandparents, Gene and Wilma
Scott and Jack and Eloise Gorton.
Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Cancer
