Durwood Goforth

May 6, 1927 ~ March 4, 2009

Okeene - Durwood Goforth, Okeene, was born May 6, 1927 to Henry Floyd Goforth and Bertie Elma Walker in their Okeene home. He died March 4, 2009 at the Okeene Hospital.

He graduated Okeene High School in 1945 and enlisted in the Army. He was assigned to the Army Air Corps stationed in Sheppard Field, Wichita Falls, Texas and Natal Brazil. On Oct. 10, 1948 he married Betty Lou Westfahl. He served as an Okeene firefighter for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife Betty, three children, two brothers, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at the Homestead Cemetery Monday, March 9, 2009 at 1 p.m. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home of Okeene.
