ENID - The funeral for Ruby Mae Carter Smith Johnson, 94, of Geary, will be 1
p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at New Life Assembly Church, Geary. The Rev. Ray
Pickett will officiate. Burial will be in Geary Cemetery. Arrangements are by
Russworm Funeral Home.
She was born March 31, 1915, to Lydia Jane and Robert Day Carter and died
Saturday, March 6, 2010, in Oklahoma City.
She was married to Bill Hoover Smith from 1933 to 1968 until his death. She was
later married to Edward E. Johnson from 1972 to 2000 until his death.
She worked as a nurse aide for Dr. F.D. Stough in Geary, Geary Nursing Home as
an aide and activities director, Watonga Well Baby Clinic and Opportunities
Incorporated, Watonga. She also was a member of Union Baptist church, where she
was active in missions.
Surviving are one daughter, Lois Jean Smith of Watonga; two stepchildren, Donald
Johnson of Manhattan, Kan., and Thelma Simmons of Kansas City, Kan.; three
sisters, Winnie Rose Brown of Oklahoma City, Ernestine Pruitt of St. Paul,
Minn., and Erma Carson of Minneapolis, Minn.; one brother, Warren Carter of
Wichita, Kan.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
