ENID — Dorothy Pointer Houston was born April 22, 1932, at the home of her
parents, Samuel and Emily (Mobley) Pointer in Canadian County, Okla., east of
Geary. She went to her heavenly home with Jesus Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, after
a long battle with cancer. "Toby," as she was called by her brothers and
sisters, was the youngest of 6 children. She was raised in the Karn Spur area,
and went to Enterprise School. On Aug. 21, 1948, she married Doyle W. Houston.
They lived in Geary, moving to Watonga and on to Woodward, before moving back to
the Houston Farm west of Geary. They moved to Enid in 2002, where Dorothy
resided at the time of her death. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper, and
retired from Woodward Savings and Loan in 1973.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Emily Pointer; her beloved
husband, Doyle; her brothers and sisters, Dorris, Grant, and Dude Pointer,
Winnie Hedrick, and Welvie Biggs; and two sons-in-law, Dan A. Hamilton and Randy
C. Morrison.
Dorothy is survived by daughters, Debye Rush and her husband, Ron, and Beverly
J. Morrison, all of Enid; two grandchildren, Dusti Covalt Pletcher and her
husband, Shad of Harper, Kan., and Justin Doyle Houston Covalt and his wife,
Danielle of Wichita, Kan.; one great-granddaughter, Baylee Shyanne Pletcher of
Harper, Kan.; also surviving her are honorary daughter, Susan L. Cox of OKC, and
honorary grandson, Brandon K. Morrison and his wife, Jacki, and their daughter,
Tabor Christine, of Fort Smith, Ark.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in her memory be made to
Hospice Circle of Love in Enid, or the charity of one's choice with Turner
Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.
Services: Turner Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, 2 p.m., Oct. 26, 2012, Geary,
Okla.
Officiating: Rev. Steve Samples
Burial: Geary Cemetery, Geary, Okla., under the direction of Turner Funeral
