Elsie Viola Lawrence (Landreth) of Watonga Oklahoma, was born on November 16th, 1942. Elsie was the 6th of 9 kids born to John Clifford Landreth and Lillie Belle Landreth of Greenfield, Oklahoma and passed away at the age of 79.
Elise graduated from Greenfield High School where she participated in many plays and photography.
Elsie married Sewell A Whisler on June 20th 1965 in Watonga, Oklahoma.
She also was active in FHA and was named the FHA sweetheart. Elsie was a member of Lindsey Chapel Church of Eufaula, Oklahoma.
Elsie is preceded in death by both her parents, one brother Jimmy Landreth, and three sisters: Ella Terrell, Betty Thompson and Lillie Dunn.
Elsie is survived by four siblings, her daughter Mary Ann Phillips and her husband Pogo Phillips of Watonga, Oklahoma, her granddaughters, Dawn and husband David Pepe, and their children Hunter and Laney, of Springdale, AR, Heather Chidel and husband Max Chidel of New Orleans, Louisiana, and grandson SPC** Christopher Duncan and his wife Paula of Fort Bliss EL Paso, Texas, and her son John W Whisler and his wife Tonya and five grandsons: Ashton, Nicholas, Zion, Vince and Anthony of Erie, Colorado.
Elsie was a loving mother and grandmother who loved spending time and making memories with her children and grandchildren. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports or hearing the details of their games if she couldn’t attend. She loved Oklahoma Sooner football and attend many games.
Elsie loved the color purple, family, friends and her faith. She touched the lives of many people with her kind heart and love of caring for others.
Elsie was a lover of country music, western wear, and rodeos. She worked in western wear retail most of her career. She loved horses and rodeos. She fulfilled her dream by owning a western wear store in Poteau Ok (R Bar Western Wear). No cowboy was ever a stranger.
There will be a Celebration of Life held in her honor on November 8th at Boot and Chaps Event Center located in Greenfield, OK at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at East Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
