The funeral for Joan Gerken, 88-year-old Enid resident, is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2021, in the Henninger-Hinson Chapel.
Burial will follow in East Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Watonga.
Funeral services for Joan Roaslie McBride Gerken will be 11:00am Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Kenneth Wade will officiate. Burial will follow in East Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Watonga. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Joan Rosalie McBride Gerken, 88 year-old Enid resident, was born April 16, 1933 in Watonga, OK to Perl and Nellie (Siebold) McBride and died Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Commons in Enid of natural causes.
After graduating from Watonga High School she married J E Burk of Tonkawa, OK in 1952. Joan and her four children moved to Enid in 1959.
Joan was a long time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a waitress at Polly and Peggy’s Cafe and Three Towers Restaurant. Joan enjoyed sewing and was an avid country music fan.
She Married Harold Gerken in 1986. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold, sister Grace Ann Benson, and her son’s Michael Burk, Stephan Burk, and daughter Judy Cornett.
Joan is Survived by her brother Everett McBride of Colorado Springs, Co, sisters Mae Thompson of Watonga and Virginia Hulman of Okeene, her son Wayne Burk and wife Tammi, of Macon, Ga, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
