STOUT, Thomas J.
DIED: At his home near Okeene, Ok., April 9th, 1908, Thomas J. STOUT, aged 69 years, 1 month and 13 days.
He was born in Richie county, Va., Feby 26, 1837, on a small farm 22 miles from Parkersburg. His father died when Thomas was small and he had to assist in keeping the family by working out.
At the beginning of the war of 1861, he enlisted in Co. D 6th Virginia regiment and served over 3 years being honorably discharged. He married Miss Mary GUINN, at Clorksuburg, Va., in 1865 and to them were born ten children, six of whom are living, -- three in Blaine county, one in Kingfisher and one in Enid. He moved to Ohio in 1865, where he lived until he came to Oklahoma soon after the opening of this, C. and A. country. He bought a claim on which [he] lived some time when he bought a farm near town on which he was living when death claimed him.
He united with the baptist church while in Ohio and lived a consistent and religious life.
Mr. STOUT was a genial and pleasant neighbor and a patriotic citizen, making friends of whom he made acquaintances.
He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his departure.
