Wendell Robison
(October 16, 1929 - August 9, 2010)
Charles Wendell Robison, son of Elmer and Rachel (Byers) Robison, was born October 16, 1929 on the family farm in Blaine County near Watonga. He departed this life late Monday, August 9, 2010 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid at the age of 80 years. Wendell was raised in the Southard area where he attended school. He graduated from Southard High School with the class of 1948. He was united in marriage to Naomi Bland and they had two sons: Sheldon and Kelly. Wendell married Leta Joyce (Tyree) Smith, June 12, 1980 at Pampa, Texas. They have made their home in Canton since where Wendell farmed and he also worked for Blaine County operating heavy equipment for many years. He served two terms as Blaine County Commissioner before retiring. He faithfully attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Canton. He is survived by his wife: Leta Joyce Robison of Canton; one son: Kelly Robison and wife Jane of Hennessey; one step daughter: Stephanie Calhoun of Encinitas, CA; two step sons: Steven Smith of Enid and Kevin Smith and wife Sandy of Norman; one brother: Melvin Robison of Littleton, CO; together, Wendell and Joyce have several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and he is also survived by many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Sheldon Robison, August 6, 2005 and one brother, Elmer Gene Robison. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2010 at the Canton Christian Church with Pastors Rex Shores and Steve Driskell, officiating. Interment will follow in the Cherryvale Cemetery under the direction of the Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to O.M.R.F. with the funeral home serving as custodian.
