To help her family, Sandy wrote her own obituary. She said... I was born on January 18, 1947 in Geary, OK to Lloyd Lee and Hazel Lucille Coble Hooten. I started school in Canton, OK but left my junior year to marry the dashing Marine, Ronnie Price (my words, not his) on December 9, 1963. I got my GED one year later. I lived a short time in San Clemente, CA with Ronnie but moved back to Canton and I called it my home for most of my life. To our marriage, three children were born, Sheri Lynette, Susan Leighan, and (Ronald) Dean Jr.
I was preceded in death by my parents, Hazel and Lloyd and my brothers, Ronald Lloyd Hooten and Roy Edgar (Eddie) Hooten. I am survived by my husband, Ronnie of Canton, daughters, Sheri King and husband Bryce of Weatherford, Susan Kenrick and husband Elvin of Canton, and son, Dean Price and wife, Deana, of Bartlesville; my sisters, Sharon Hooten Morris and husband, Bob, of Enid and Sheila Hooten Forney and husband, Jack, of Fay and my sister-in-law Sheila Price Harman and husband, James, of Fairview.
My grandchildren are Lorna Brooke King of Stillwater, (Ronald) Barrett King of Weatherford, Patrick Eli Kenrick of Bartlesville, Abby Gale Kenrick Sparks and husband, Josh, of Hinton, and Sydney Paige Price and Taylor Kay Price, both of Bartlesville. I have three great-grandchildren: Evie Ann Kenrick and Eli Joseph Kenrick of Wichita, KS and Hendrix (Hinny) Ray Sparks of Hinton. My nieces and nephews include Brian Robinett, Brad Robinett, Branda Robinett Stewart, T.J. Londagin, Miranda Londagin Cash, Susan Forney, J.W. Forney, Erica Hooten Bateson, Monica Hooten Toland, Nicole Hooten Bowman, B.J. Harman and Lance Swearengin, many great-nieces and nephews, family and friends and my fishing buddy, Corky Sutton.
Her family wanted to celebrate her by adding the following... After Sandy and Ronnie bought her parents' grocery store, H & E Grocery, she went to Beeches Beauty College and kept her beauty license until a few years ago. Her ventures included an ironing service, beauty shop, children's clothing store, army surplus store, t-shirt shop, sandwich shop, laundromat, quilting service, rabbits, chickens, Watkin's products, junk/antique store, as well as Price's Grocery. She had no fear in taking things apart and trying to fix them. She enjoyed bird watching, quilting, gardening, fishing, and baking. And she always loved a good garage sale, a junk auction, or a small animal sale.
She enjoyed spending time with family and the Traveling Donut. The grandkids all knew that when they got to Grandma's house they could ride the golf cart through a trail named "The Circle of Love". She put her own kids in the car and drove them, by herself, once across the Rocky Mountains to Disneyland and once to Red River to ski. She was afraid of heights, so this was particularly brave, or crazy, as she later described it. She also volunteered countless hours at school to support her kids' activities.
Sandy had a deep faith and close relationship with Jesus Christ. She was an active member of the Canton Christian Church and volunteered with the Ladies' Day and the youth group. She had said that she wouldn't be leaving pennies and red birds for anyone to find because she would be too busy spending time with Jesus to worry about that.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Canton Christian Church with Pastor Glen Blood and Pastor Kraig Birchfield officiating. She will be interred at Cherryvale Cemetery near Canton, OK accompanied by the Traveling Donut. She is taking TD on the ultimate trip to heaven. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cookson Hills Ministry through the funeral home at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724. Condolences may be made online at www.piercefuneralhomes.com.
