Willard E. Nelson
(February 12, 1942 - June 4, 2015)

Willard E. Nelson was born February 12, 1942 at Southard, OK to parents Osborne and Hilda (Leis) Nelson. He departed this life on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Southard, OK.

Willard graduated at Canton High School with the class of 1960. He then attended and graduated from the O.S.U. School of Technical Training with a diesel mechanics degree. He worked at the U.S. Gypsum plant at Southard, OK for 42 years. Willard also farmed and raised cattle for many years. He enjoyed having coffee with his buddies at the Canton One Stop.

Willard was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Tyson Nelson; Survivors include two sons, Rick Nelson and wife Kathy of Enid, OK and Keith Nelson and wife Mandy of Canton, OK; grandchildren Caleb Nelson and wife Jaime of Buffalo, OK, Brady Nelson and wife Emily of Denver, CO, Pace Harmon and wife Jessica of Lahoma, OK, Tyler Harmon of Los Angeles, CA, Kourtne Van Doren and husband Ben of Edmond, OK and Kassidy Tilton and husband Evan of London, England; great-grandchildren Colter Nelson, Channing Nelson, Payten Harmon and Haily Harmon; two brothers, Ronald Nelson and wife Jan of Texarkana, TX and Dean Nelson and wife Sherri of Edmond, OK; two sisters, Elois Quisenberry and husband Jerry of Claremore, OK and Doris Jinkens and husband Garry of Fairview, OK; one aunt, Georgia Martin and husband Leon of Longdale, OK; and a host of nieces and nephews;

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Canton Christian Church with Steve Driskill and Harold Hook officiating. Interment will follow in Cherryvale Cemetery east of Canton under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, OK. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 - 8:00 p.m., and Sunday from noon until 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Canton E.M.S. or the Canton Fire Department with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O.
