Clyde was born March 13, 1922 to Joe and Rosa (Ensminger) Chaloupek on a farm west of Fairview in the Wooddale community. He departed this life on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Fairview, OK.
He attended school at Round Mound, West Pleasant Hill and Dane Schools. He served in the army during World War II as a half track driver from 1942 to 1945. He received the EAME Theater Ribbon, three Bronze Service Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon and the Purple Heart. Clyde married Violet Leona Fortune on June 22, 1942 at Fairview, OK. He worked for the Corps. of Engineers on the construction of Canton Dam. He was a farmer, carpenter and did custom harvesting. Clyde is also remembered as a person that could fix and extend the life of many household items.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; two sisters; and one son-in-law;
Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Violet; two daughters, Loretta Johnson of Pratt, KS and Yvonne Bell and husband Gene of Fairview, OK; one brother, Larry Chaloupek and wife Pat; sister-in-law Virgie Chaloupek of Beaver, OK; five grandchildren, Melinda Harger and husband Ed of Pratt, KS, Nancy Van Ranken and husband Mike of Sawyer, KS, Robert Johnson and wife Lisa of Medicine Lodge, KS, Casey Bell and wife Jamie of Shawnee, OK and Cody Bell and wife Cortney of Chickasha, OK; seven great-grandchildren, Melissa Reno and husband Terry, Adam Harger and wife Tamara, Dyllen Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Addison Bell, Ava Bell and Cooper Bell; one great-great-grandson, Trevin Harger; numerous nieces and nephews;
