Kenneth Lynn “K.B.” Benson, 73 year old resident of Longdale, Oklahoma departed this life on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Enid, Oklahoma. K.B. was born January 9, 1950 at Watonga, Oklahoma to Harlan and Hazel (Beatey) Benson.
K.B. grew up at Canton, Oklahoma and graduated from Canton High School with the class of 1968. He worked at U.S. Gypsum at Southard for several years before moving to California. Upon his return to Oklahoma K.B. worked at Waldon in Fairview before beginning to work in the oil field. He rough necked for years before driving a truck in the oil field for Hamm & Phillips.
K.B. and his brother Keith were active in the boy scouts and both attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He loved camping, fishing and hunting and riding motorcycles. K.B. also enjoyed smoking and grilling meat and watching old western shows.
K.B. was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Hazel; Survivors include his longtime companion, Vickie Coulson; one son, Steven Benson of Canton, OK; one brother, Keith Benson and wife Sherrie of Canton, OK; one sister, Shelia Latham and husband Roger of Enid, OK; other extended family and many friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Cherryvale Cemetery east of Canton with Keith Robinett officiating. Memorials may be made to the Canton Senior Citizens with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724. Condolences may be offered at www.piercefuneralhomes.com.
