Graveside services for Robert Olan Bartel, 80, of Fairview, will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the Cherryvale Cemetery between Southard and Canton Oklahoma on highway 51 and North 252 Road. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Olan was born February 13, 1942 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Edward “Ed” M. and Dorothy E. (Mason) Bartel and passed away at his home on September 8, 2022. As Olan grew up he attended school in Southard to the 9th grade and then completed his education in Canton graduating in 1960. After completing high school, he worked odd jobs until he moved to California in 1964. It was here he met Nona Jean Steen and they were married on April 2, 1965. In 1966 they moved back to Oklahoma and then they moved back to California. This moving back and forth continued until they moved back to the farm in Oklahoma in 1972.
Olan went to work in the oil field and over the next several years performed many different jobs in the Oil and Gas Industry including the last one he had moving porta-potties. Later in life he worked as a mechanic for William’s Tractors, Rothers Brothers, and Goforth Tractors, however, the oil field was his true calling and worked there until he retired.
He is survived by his wife Debra Howell, his daughters Cindy Nolan Taylor and husband Robert and Virginia Marie Landt, son Todd Ralston and wife Robyn, one brother Gerald Bartel, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two uncles Ronnie Mason and Bert Mason, and two aunts Lavonda Enos and Erna Fisher, as well as many Nieces and Nephews.
Olan was preceded in death by his: parents, and wife Nona Jean.
Memorials can be made to the charity of your chose with the funeral home acting as custodian.
