A traditional all night wake service for Emma Osage Red Hat, 86, of Longdale, OK will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday evening, May 10, 2015 at the Canton Native American Gymnasium with Reverend Gerald Panana officiating. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m, Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Longdale Gymnasium in Longdale, OK. Interment will follow in the Canton Reinterment Cemetery under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, OK.
Emma Osage Red Hat was born on June 20, 1928 at Hammon, OK to parents Ben and Anne (Twins) Osage. She departed this life on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Oklahoma City, OK. She attended the Concho Boarding School where she was a cheerleader.
She married William Wayne Red Hat, Sr. and they made their home southwest of Longdale, OK. Emma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cheyenne arrowkeeper William Wayne Red Hat, Sr.; three children, Marilyn Red Hat, Edward Red Hat, II and Minoma Koshiway; three grandchildren, Christopher Red Hat, Shelby Red Hat and Melissa Big Medicine; three great-grandchildren, Madison Red Hat Roberts, Xzavier Alonzo and Benjamin Ross Big Medicine; two brothers, Albert Curtis and Gilbert Curtis; one sister, Molly Curtis; She is survived by eight children, son Cheyenne arrowkeeper William Wayne Red Hat, Jr. and wife Nellie of Longdale, OK, son Luther Red Hat and wife Wanada of Longdale, OK, daughter Eva Big Medicine and husband Joe of Watonga, OK, daughter Zola Old Bear and husband Ronald of Longdale, OK, son Albert Red Hat of Longdale, OK, daughter Patricia White Eagle and husband George, Sr. of Longdale, OK, daughter Pamela Red Hat of Oklahoma City, OK and son Steven Red Hat and wife Monica of Longdale, OK; forty grandchildren; one hundred seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer Curtis of El Reno, OK; many other extended family members; Condolences may be made online at www.haiglerpierce.com.
