A traditional wake service for Michael W. Osage, 55, of Canton, Oklahoma will begin at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday evening, February 19, 2019 at the Canton Native American Gymnasium with Reverend George Akeen, Jr. officiating. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the same venue. Interment will follow in the Canton Reinterment (Chief's) Cemetery near Canton Lake under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.
Michael Wilbur Osage was born on Christmas eve, December 24, 1955 at Clinton, Oklahoma to Donald Osage, Jr. and Joyce Pauline Shawnee. He departed this life on February 14, 2019 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Michael attended school at Longdale and Canton. He was an electrician for many years working for the Cheyenne & Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma.
Michael was preceded in death by his wife Vivian (Haag) Osage; his parents; grandparents Wilford Shawnee and Pauline Meat and Don and Kate Osage; brothers Jack Hail and Albert Meat; sister Jacqueline Hail; Survivors include his grandchildren Trista Sioux and A.J. Sioux; brothers Donovan Osage of Watonga, OK and Milo Osage of Oklahoma City, OK, Gary Meat of Missouri; sisters Paula Meat, Charity Meat, both of El Reno, OK and Shane Meat of Arizona; aunt Renee Meat and husband Charles Surveyor of Canton, OK, aunt Lena Meat Deer of Oklahoma City, OK, aunts Agnes Old Bear and Sidonia Black Owl both of El Reno, OK, Jewel Shawnee, Helene Shawnee and Oleta Shawnee all of Geary, OK; uncles Johnny Shawnee and Frances Shawnee both of Geary, OK; nieces Kim Hoof of El Reno, OK, Mary Hope Smith of Longdale, OK and Laquita Joyce Hail of Oklahoma City, OK; nephews Eric Hail of Pawhuska, OK, Charles Hail of El Reno, OK; cousins and other extended family and friends.
