Mark Eugene Birdshead, Sr. was born October 3, 1968 at Bethesda, Maryland to Joseph and Sarah Birdshead. He departed this world early Saturday morning, September 7, 2024 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Mark was raised primarily in the Dakotas but also spent time in Oklahoma and several other parts of the country. He graduated from Lincoln High School at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He worked as a carpenter in home construction.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nuo’wahhghis Richardson; one niece, Jessica Cogburn; Survivors include his wife Lou Ann of the home; seven children, Jacob Birdshead of Ada, Oklahoma, Jalon Birdshead of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sarah Shields of Ada, Oklahoma, Tommie Shields of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Breanne Birdshead of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mark Birdshead, Jr. and Jace Birdshead both of Ada, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Kyrie Peteet, Harmony Peteet and Khiyani Birdshead; brother Joseph Allen Birdshead of Clinton, Oklahoma, brother David Birdshead of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, sister Susan Desjarlais (Ron) of Belcourt, North Dakota, brother Amick Birdshead of Canton, Oklahoma and brother Phillip Birdshead of Billings, Montana; step-mother Jo Ann Birdshead of Billings, Montana.
An all-night wake service will begin at 7 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the Canton Emergency Response Center in Canton, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2024 at the same venue with interment at the Canton Reinterment Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, Oklahoma.
