Gladys L. Whitlow was born July 2, 1929 at Kingfisher, OK to parents Edward and Minnie (Mouse Trail) Starr. She departed this life on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Sand Springs, OK. She was raised at Canton and attended Pumpkin Ridge school west of Canton. Gladys enjoyed going to church and playing bingo. She loved her great-great-grandchildren very dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Johnny Whitlow; one brother, Edward Starr, Jr.; one grandson, Martin Blue Back;
Survivors include one daughter, Erma White Eagle of Tulsa, OK; one son, Martin White Eagle of Montezuma Creek, UT; one brother, George Starr of South Dakota and one sister, Daisy Starr of Watonga, OK; one granddaughter, Carla Davis; five great-grandchildren, James Hall, Jr., Celestial Daugherty, Martin Davis, Jacob Davis and Vanessa Davis; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends;
A wake service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Canton Native American Community Center with Reverend George Akeen officiating. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Canton Christian Church with Reverend Charles Hill and Reverend Jerry Woodall officiating.
Interment will follow in Cantonment Cemetery west of Canton under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton. Condolences may be made online at www.haiglerpierce.com.
